Tonight, March 22, 2011, Ayman Mohyeldin, Middle East correspondent from Al Jhazeera English, stopped by as the guest on the Colbert Report.  The main focus of their interview revolved around Al Jhazeera’s efficiency and credibility in reporting international news.  Colbert spoke about the lack of Al Jhazeera’s partnership with American Cable networks, and the preconceived notions many ordinary Americans may have of the network based on their exclusive coverage of Al Qaeda news and video press.  Ayman spoke about how Al Jhazeera can benefit many Americans who crave international news that affect them personally, but lack an efficient means to receive it.  During the broadcast, Colbert questioned Ayman about his religion, and the Muslim community could not have had a better spokesman.

“We Shall Prevail”

It’s 4:59 AM and I just finished watching The King’s Speech.  I know i’m late but whatever at least I finally got to it.  I absolutely loved the movie and was reminded of the Oscars’ Best Picture Montage from the 83rd Academy Awards.  Took my a while to find this but I finally got my hands on it.  Enjoy this graciously collaborated montage.

Austin Eating: Hopdoddy Burger Bar

I went to Hopdoddy Burger Bar a couple of weeks ago and I must say I was extremely impressed.  Not only is it located in one of the hotspots in Austin (South Congress), but the atmosphere indoors is quite unique.  When walking in you are directed towards the back of the restaurant to place an order as not to clutter the dining area/bar.  Even though the place was completely packed when I visited and the line extended out the door, the concept itself is great.  Not to mention you can’t place an order until there is a table available for you so you’re not stuck holding your food waiting for others to finish their experience.  The bar has a great ensemble of beers, including local brewers like Independence.

Now for the food.  everything from the fresh cut fries to the bun on the burger is supplied and created in house.  The different varieties of burgers they have can compliment any taste you have may be dying for at any moment.  The patty was flavorful and I’m sure was much healthier than half the burger joints in Austin. To sum it up, I really enjoyed it and would definitely make multiple visits.  It’s a great place to spend quality time with people and hang out if you’re so fortunate to be in Austin, TX.
